Welcome

The Oban War and Peace Museum is in the old Oban Times building on the Esplanade, a small free museum run by volunteers about the town's two lives.

One is the flying-boat base and convoy port of the Second World War; the other is the holiday town of the steamers before and after. Photographs, models, uniforms and the stories of people who were here fill a couple of rooms, and the volunteers will tell you the rest. Half an hour, more if you get talking. Open most days in season; donations welcome. Right on the seafront, so it fits between the ferry and the fish and chips.
