Introduction

Once a fashionable castle with touches of elegant Renaissance design, Carnasserie has now been left to ruin. Dating back to the 16th century, the castle was built at the head of Kilmartin Glen on raised ground, as it was easier to see warring invaders if they came. Nowadays, the castle is cared for his by Historic Environment Scotland and is a scheduled monument.
