North Berwick Harbour

The small working harbour at North Berwick, busy with yachts and small boats, looked after by a community trust and home to clubs and the Seabird Centre.

Welcome

At the heart of North Berwick, between its two sandy bays, the little harbour is where the town meets the sea.

Yachts, dinghies and small fishing boats lie close together inside the stone walls, rising and settling with the tide, and there is always something going on: sailors rigging their boats, kayaks on the sand and people strolling out along the pier.

The harbour is looked after by the North Berwick Harbour Trust, a community body, and many local clubs and groups are based around it. The Scottish Seabird Centre stands on the rocks at its edge, with live cameras trained on the Bass Rock and the other islands offshore, and Milsey Bay's sands stretch away beside it.

The trust has big plans, backed by the North Berwick Trust, to repair the old sea walls, make the beach easier to reach and build a new home for community and water sports. Meanwhile it remains one of the most pleasant places in the town to sit and watch the boats.
