Long Beach, Knoydart

A shore a short walk from Inverie pier, with views to Rum, otters on the river, and the Knoydart Foundation's campsite.

A fifteen-minute walk from the pier at Inverie, Long Beach runs along the shore of Loch Nevis, with a carved wooden figure standing guard on the sand and seaweed.

Look west and the jagged hills of Rum rise across the sea.

It is a place for wildlife as much as for a stroll. Otters are seen on the River Inverie just to the south, and golden and white-tailed eagles hunt over the mountains that ring the bay. The Knoydart Foundation runs a campsite here, with fifty pitches, fire pits, free firewood, picnic benches, fresh water, a shelter and a compost toilet, at twelve pounds a person a night.

The beach is open to all at any time. It is a lovely spot to end a day's walking, or to wake up to if you camp.
