Places to Stay in the Cairngorms

The Cairngorms National Park is a big, wild stretch of mountains, rivers and old pine forest, with friendly villages along the valleys. These are our favourite places to stay across it, from a Victorian tower by the river to a farmhouse with dinner at a shared table.

Updated 23 September 2026. Across the Cairngorms.

Whether you've come for the high tops, the forest trails or simply a slower pace, the Cairngorms is a wonderful place to spend a few days. The Spey, the Feshie and the Dee wind down through the glens, and there are walks for every kind of day, from an easy loop through the pines to a long climb onto the plateau.

We've picked out places to stay right across the park. There's a listed Victorian gatehouse tower on the banks of the River Tanar, and a stalker's cottage with a wood-fired hot tub and mountain views from the bed. In Glen Feshie there's a riverside house with room for a crowd. In Kingussie there's a house from the 1820s, restored in 2024. Just outside the village, an old farmhouse serves breakfast and dinner at a shared table, with a sauna yurt for afterwards. Most of them welcome dogs too.
