Places to Stay in and Around Edinburgh

Some of these are in the middle of the city and some out in the countryside half an hour away. From Old Town flats to converted farm buildings, these are our favourite places to stay in and around it.

Edinburgh works beautifully as a base, whether you want to be right in the thick of it or out in the countryside with the city half an hour away. A flat up an Old Town stair is one kind of trip; a converted steading with fields on three sides and the castle skyline on the horizon is quite another, and both have their charms.

We've picked out our favourite places to stay in and around the city, from Georgian townhouses and mews cottages to farm conversions out in the Lothians.
