Kinloch Lodge became a hotel in 1972, when the High Chief of Clan Donald and his wife opened their own home to guests.

Godfrey Macdonald, the 8th Lord Macdonald and 35th High Chief of the clan, and his wife Claire had a simple plan: comfortable beds, endless hot water, a warm welcome and very good food. The family ran it for more than five decades. In 2026 the keys passed to the Wickman family, who have been Skye hoteliers for more than thirty years.

Inside The Gatehouse.

The Gatehouse stands at the entrance to the North Drive of Innes House, a turreted stone lodge renovated in 2022. Inside it rises over four floors, with a kitchen and dining room at the bottom, a sitting room with a wood-burning stove, a single room, and the main bedroom at the top. The bathroom has a freestanding roll-top bath. It sleeps four, with a sofa bed for extra space, and there's a boot room with laundry for muddy days.
