The Torrance Gallery reopens on Saturday 1 August after a refurbishment by its new owners, Antonio and Adam Jackson-Perkins. It is one of the longest-running contemporary galleries in Edinburgh, and the pair have rebranded it rather than started again.

First up is a solo show by Constantine.., an Athens-born, Edinburgh-based artist who was artist in residence at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh in 2025. A Collection of Quotidian Masterpieces runs until 22 August, which drops it squarely into festival season. His paintings are flat, bright and funny, with speech bubbles and a recurring self-figure.

Antonio says the intention is to build on what the previous owners left rather than discard it. The pair also run a machine embroidery business called Suzy Dreams. There is an opening event on the first day, noon until three, with the artist there.
