Study for North Bridge runs at Edinburgh's City Art Centre until 13 September, and it is free. The centrepiece is a new film by Rachel McBrinn and Jonathan Webb, made while the bridge was being repaired.
The title borrows from the sketches artists make before a finished work, and the film keeps its attention on the job in progress: the people, the processes, the bits normally out of sight. Around it sit pieces taken off the bridge during the restoration, shown with paintings of North Bridge from the city's Fine Art Collection going back 300 years.
Guided walking tours run alongside it with Invisible Cities, starting and finishing at the gallery. The bridge is due to reopen fully in August, so you can look at the exhibition and then go and stand on the thing.
