In the village of Dunning, at the foot of the Ochils, a stone inn stands on Kirkstyle Square beneath St Serf's Church.

The Kirkstyle Inn is the village pub, a small, old-fashioned country inn with low ceilings, a fire and a long bar.

Dunning itself was almost wiped out on 28 January 1716, when Jacobite troops set fire to most of its houses, farms and barns, and the village that stands today was rebuilt after it. The inn serves food from local farms and suppliers, good wines and well-kept ales, and has a covered beer garden for the summer. Upstairs there are four rooms, and dogs are welcome.

It opens every day, from the evening on Mondays, and makes a fine base for Maggie Wall's monument, the Ochil hills and the golf at Gleneagles.
