Stewart Tower Dairy
A dairy farm near Stanley in Perthshire that makes its own gelato-style ice cream, with a café in an old horse engine house and a farm shop.
There's nothing quite like an ice cream made with milk from the farm you're standing on, and at Stewart Tower Dairy the milk only has to cross the yard.
The Holstein Friesian herd here grazes clover fields against the Perthshire hills from late April to early October, and its milk goes into a gelato-style ice cream made on the farm, with more than 250 ice creams and fruit ices taking turns at the counter through the year. The café and ice cream parlour fill the Roundhouse, a horse engine house of around 1840, with breakfasts, light lunches and home baking, and a dog-friendly patio for warmer days. The farm shop has a cheese counter, local fruit, veg and butcher meat, ready meals and bakes from the kitchen, and tubs of ice cream to take home. Look out for the pygmy goats, sheep, pigs and ponies too. It's a mile off the A9 between Perth and Dunkeld, open every day of the year, and there's no need to book a table.

Open every day of the year; the café seats everyone as they come, so there is no need to book.
