The Ship Inn

An inn of 1771 on the edge of Stonehaven harbour, with malts, real ale and a sun terrace.

Welcome

The Ship Inn has stood on the edge of Stonehaven harbour since 1771, and it has the best seat in town for watching the boats come and go.

It is a small, friendly hotel now, with eleven rooms upstairs, most of them looking over the harbour.

The lounge bar is the heart of it: a long collection of single malt whiskies, Scottish craft gins, draught beer and real ales, and an outdoor terrace where on a sunny day half of Stonehaven seems to be sitting with a pint and the sea in front of them. It is a good place to meet the locals, or to sit and watch the seaside life go by.

Next door the restaurant serves home-cooked food from a varied menu, made with local produce, and tables can be booked ahead. Stonehaven's harbour front is lined with good places to eat and drink. Dunnottar Castle is a cliff-top walk away to the south.
