Portknockie Fish and Chips
A small village chippy in Portknockie, cooking everything fresh to order four evenings a week, with crunchy fried pop pop chicken as the house speciality.
On a quiet street in the clifftop village of Portknockie, a small white chip shop with a round sign does a roaring trade.
Moira and Ian opened it in March 2014.
Everything is cooked fresh to order: fish in light, crispy batter, generous portions of chips, homemade sauces and good value children's meals, with thought given to vegetarians and anyone with allergies. The house speciality is crunchy fried pop pop chicken, a recipe Ian first made in 1996 when he ran a chip shop in Guernsey.
The shop opens from Thursday to Sunday, from half past four until half past seven, and it is busy, so phone your order in from ten in the morning. Then take your supper out to the cliffs above Bow Fiddle Rock and eat it looking at the sea.
