Correction Wynd is an old cobbled lane in the Merchant Quarter, curling down from Union Street past the Kirk of St Nicholas.

Moonfish has cooked here since 2004, and from its tall windows you look out across the lane to the old church.

The room is simple and stylish, with wooden tables, bentwood chairs and globe lamps, and the mood is relaxed and unfussy. The cooking is modern British, on a short menu that changes constantly with the seasons and what the kitchen can find, with a real love of local fish and seafood. Plates have included fish on a bisque and beef with asparagus. There is a good list of gins.

Moonfish serves lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, and it is wise to book.
