A lively little sandwich cafe on the Green in Aberdeen's Merchant Quarter, known for big, inventive sandwiches, homemade soup and good coffee.

Down on the Green, the old cobbled street below Union Street, Contour is a small, busy cafe behind a granite front with big windows and benches outside.

It is full of the chatter of students and young people from the offices nearby, with good music playing in the background.

The reason to come is the sandwiches. They are big, generous and a little bit daring, with names like the Mona Lisa, Pistol Pete and Squakin Ranch. There is homemade soup every day, cakes and home baking, brunch plates such as eggs royale, and good coffee.

It is a cosy spot to sit in the window and watch the old street go by. Contour opens from Tuesday to Sunday, early in the morning until the middle of the afternoon.
