Loch Lomond Leisure hires out almost everything that floats from Luss Pier and from Loch Lomond Shores at Balloch, and on a fine day there is no better way to see the loch than from the water.

You can take a rowing boat or a pedal boat out for an hour, a fishing boat for a morning, or a self-drive motorboat to explore the islands and bays at your own pace, and there are speedboats with a skipper for those who want to go further and faster.

For paddlers there are kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards, with guided paddles for beginners, and bikes for the lochside paths. Safety kit comes with the boats, and the team show you what to do, so they suit people new to the water. The season opens at the start of April, and at Luss the company is open every day, from 10am to 7pm. Prices start at about £30 for the simplest hire. It is best to book, especially on summer weekends.
