Legends at the Monument is the coffee house and gift shop at the foot of the Abbey Craig, in a long, dark timber building below the National Wallace Monument, whose tower rises out of the trees above.
Whether you have just come down the 246 steps from the Crown at the top of the monument or simply want a coffee with a view of it, it is the natural place to stop.
The coffee house serves good local and home-made food, from coffee and cake to a good lunch with seasonal specials made in its own kitchen, and there are seats outside in fine weather. There is a gift shop, and the building hosts talks and events. It is run by Stirling District Tourism, a local charity, and the money raised goes back into Stirling's heritage. It opens every day except 25 and 26 December and 1 January, from 10am (9.30am in September and October) until between 4.30pm and 6.30pm depending on the season. Tickets for the monument itself are sold separately.

January and February 10am to 4.30pm; March to June 10am to 5.30pm; July and August 10am to 6.30pm; September and October 9.30am to 5.30pm; November and December 10am to 4.30pm. The kitchen closes half an hour earlier. Closed 25 and 26 December and 1 January.
