Welcome

Stirling Bagpipes is a bagpipe maker's workshop and shop on Broad Street, in the Old Town below the castle, with its name painted over the window and the words bagpipe maker on the glass.

Step inside and the walls are hung with sets of pipes, and the owner, Alan Waldron, makes new Highland bagpipes here by hand, along with Scottish smallpipes and Border pipes, from standard sets to ones made to a player's own specification.

It is also a place to see and buy old instruments. The shop keeps a wide collection of antique bagpipes by famous makers, and it repairs pipes too, giving tired sets a new life. Alongside the instruments are chanters and practice chanters, reeds, bags and the rest of a piper's kit, drumming supplies, and Highland wear from sporrans to sgian dubhs. Even if you have never played a note, it is worth looking in to see a craft that is rarely practised in a shop window. Call ahead for opening times.
