Unorthodox Roasters is a speciality coffee company based in Kinross, where it roasts its own beans, and this is its second café, at 12 Friars Street in Stirling, in the older streets at the foot of the castle hill.
Behind the white shopfront it is bright and relaxed, with tiled walls, plants on every shelf, long wooden tables and window seats, and a counter where the baristas take their coffee seriously.
The favourites from Kinross are all here: pour-over filter coffees, carefully made flat whites and excellent cakes. There are loose-leaf teas and coffee-free lattes for anyone who does not drink coffee, and the shelves are stocked with the company's own coffees, chocolate and brewing kit to take home. It opens every day from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
