Heather McDermott is a Scottish jeweller whose shop and workshop are on Main Street in Callander, and her work is made entirely by hand there.

It draws on Scotland's tidal shores. The flotsam washed up on the beaches of Skye, tangled ropes and rock pools become brooches, pendants, studs and rings in silver, gold plate and stainless steel.

The shop is a light, friendly room with a long wooden table, glass cabinets and strings of lights, and alongside Heather's own jewellery there are scarves, prints and other pieces chosen to sit with it. Look for her Fankle necklaces, named from the Scots word for a tangle, whose triangular links are each shaped and welded by hand so that no two are the same, and her scatter brooches of geometric shapes. You can often see her at work at the bench. It is a good place for a present that carries a piece of the Scottish coast.
