Loch Venachar
Introduction
This shimmering freshwater loch, which lies West of the pretty town of Callander makes for a great day out.
For walkers there is a challenging circular walk which runs around the loch through a forest track. Expect some scenic views, hidden lochans and an abundance of wildlife.
The loch stretches for six miles and as well as being a walkers paradise, it's also a great spot for fishing, these calm waters are populated by a large amount of trout and pike.
For sailors, you will find the Loch Venachar sailing club. There philosophy is making sailing available to all, and open to anyone regardless of their age or ability.
There is also a purpose built cycleway, which involves a challenging yet rewarding circuit of the loch.
