Suie Hunting Lodge
Introduction
Set amid the dramatic scenery of Glen Dochart, Suie Hunting Lodge is a design-led, six-room boutique hotel that owners Pauline and Robbie have been lovingly restoring since 2017. The 1780 former shooting lodge of the Suie Estate has been reimagined with a modern heritage sensibility, think exposed stone walls, vintage furniture, William Morris fabrics, roll-top baths and king-size beds dressed in crisp white cotton. Rooms range from the Laird's Suite with its industrial four-poster to a petite second-floor sanctuary recessed into original stonework, each one finished with Laura Thomas sustainable toiletries.
Open on a B&B basis through the week, the lodge welcomes guests into its drawing room and bar Thursday to Saturday evenings, where Scottish lager on tap meets carefully chosen whiskies, wines and gins. Just minutes from the Falls of Dochart, Loch Tay and the Munros north of Loch Lomond, it's an adults-only retreat made for slow Highland days.
Facilities & Services
Each of the six rooms features feather and down bedding, crisp white cotton sheets with a minimum 300 thread count, drench showers and Laura Thomas sustainable toiletries. Some rooms have cast iron roll-top baths. Downstairs, guests enjoy a drawing room, bar with whisky, wine and gin lists, and Scottish lager on tap.

Using stone walls as your backdrop and a handcrafted headboard, made from reclaimed wood from our steading, this room is jam packed full of character. The vintage furniture, a beautiful Victorian chest of drawers and chairs covered with William Morris fabric, add warmth and the king-size bed guarantees a comfortable night's sleep. With added great views of the River Dochart. Your huge bathroom has a vintage style cast iron roll-top bath and a spacious walk-in shower. Remember to crack the window open a bit while you relax in the bath to take in the hills and peaceful scenery outside.

On the first floor our largest room with a modern 4 poster industrial bed, with a large separate seating area will give you plenty of space to relax and take in the scenery over the hills. The bathroom boasts a cast iron vintage roll top bath, drench shower and luxury toiletries. The bedding is 100% cotton and a minimum of 300 thread count as in all our rooms .

This first floor room has an ornamental fireplace, dramatic deep blue window and shutters and antique green nursing chairs that have that beautiful curved shape you see below. The stone wall merges the colours of the outside hills with the interior, lie in bed with a cup of tea in the morning to appreciate the beauty of the Scottish countryside! With a luxury en suite shower room, king size bed and industrial finishes mixed with vintage furniture for our Suie Hunting Lodge look.

Our most petite room is on the second floor, we like to think it's small but perfectly formed and still boasts a sumptuous king size bed, cotton sheets and luxurious velvet blackout curtains. We found an small alcove in the original wall when renovating and decided it was such a lovely feature that we should keep the stonework visible and recess the bed into it and then we added industrial and vintage pieces to add warmth. Room 4 has a full size luxury bathroom with drench shower, vintage style fittings and beautiful Victorian style tiles in the bathroom.

This cosy double room on the second floor has a dressing room, separated from the main bedroom with an exposed original stone wall leading into your luxurious shower room. As with the other bathrooms you have Victorian style tiles, traditional style bathroom furniture and Laura Thomas sustainable toiletries to pamper yourself. With a UK double bed, velvet blackout curtains and amazing views over the Glen Dochart hills you can make relax and make yourself comfortable!

Our latest king room (just finished last summer) on the second floor is a large calm space with amazing views! The chaise longue is perfect to relax on, read a book and enjoy the view. Off the main room is a large luxurious shower room with, as usual, Victorian style tiles, traditional style bathroom furniture and Laura Thomas sustainable toiletries. With a UK kings sized bed and velvet blackout curtains you should sleep like a log.
Location
The lodge sits in Luib, Glen Dochart, in the northern reaches of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Positioned between Crianlarich and Killin on the road north, it makes an ideal base for exploring the southern Highlands or a memorable stop en route further north to the Islands.
Good to know
Suie Hunting Lodge is adults-only with a minimum age of 12, and rooms have a maximum capacity of two guests. Pets can no longer be accommodated. The lodge runs on a B&B basis through the week, with the bar and restaurant open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings — bookings essential.
What's nearby
The Falls of Dochart, Inchbuie island and the Old Mill heritage hub are 10 minutes away in Killin, with Loch Tay just beyond. Ben More, Ben Lawers and the Tarmachan Ridge sit close by for Munro baggers, while Aberfeldy, the Crannog Centre and Taymouth Marina are within easy driving distance.
