Trossachs Woollen Mill

The mill shop and café at Kilmahog by Callander, home to Hamish Dubh, Honey and Holly, three Highland cows.

Welcome

The Trossachs Woollen Mill stands by the river at Kilmahog, just west of Callander where the road turns north towards the Pass of Leny, and for many travellers heading into the Highlands it is the first stop.

Its great draw is the Highland cows: Hamish Dubh, Honey and Holly live in the field beside the mill, named after the famous Highland bull Hamish, who lived here happily for many years, and you can buy a bag of treats in the shop to feed them. Seeing them costs nothing.

Inside there is a large shop of Scottish knitwear and tweed, including Harris Tweed, cashmere and well-known Scottish brands, and a wealth of Highland cow souvenirs, and there is a café named after Hamish serving meals, snacks and Fairtrade coffee. There is plenty of free parking for cars and coaches. It opens every day: 9am to 5.30pm on weekdays, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.
