On Saturday the 16th of August 2025, Wester Ross hosts the Great Wilderness Challenge, centred at Poolewe Hall. Participants can choose from a 25‑mile point‑to‑point walk or run (Dundonnell to Poolewe), 13‑mile routes (linear or circular), a 7‑mile walk, a 10 K run, or shorter limited‑mobility routes. Events start early, with staggered departures and organised bus transfers. Registration, catering, prize-giving, showers and first aid are available at the hall. Entrants, split by age, must pre‑register and are encouraged to fundraise for charity. Marshals, medics, mountain rescue support and mandatory kit checks ensure safety.
