Introduction

Loch Maree, located in the north-west Highlands, is renowned for its stunning scenery. It is framed by scattered islands, lush oakwoods, and towering mountains on one side, while the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve graces the other. As the largest loch in the north-west Highlands, it boasts a maximum depth of 110 meters. The loch is home to a variety of rare plants and animals, earning it several conservation accolades. Among its more than 60 islands, you can spot an array of wildlife including sea eagles, golden eagles, black-throated divers, red deer, dragonflies, and butterflies, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.

Walkers: There are various trails round the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve that will give you some stunning views of the loch. 
Parking: Follow the A9 then the A835 for 54 miles from Inverness to reach the Beinn Eighe Trails car park.
