Wester Ross

An Teallach

Add to List

Introduction

Considered one of Britain’s most visually impressive mountains, An Teallach sits just west of the Dundonnell Forest in Wester Ross. Created over thousands of years in Torridonian sandstone (very common to the region), the range is best characterised for its sharp, rocky exterior that makes it slightly more challenging to climb. The munro takes its name from the Old Gaelic meaning ‘the anvil’, so named for its distinctive cone shape.
