Welcome

Few nine-hole courses come with a view like this one.

Ullapool’s course runs from the north end of the village down to the shore of Loch Broom, with the mountains of Wester Ross all around. Each hole has a second tee, so you can play the loop twice for eighteen. The signature hole is the 2nd, a par three named after An Teallach, the mountain you can see from its high tee, with the Ullapool River cutting into the fairway. Walk-ins are welcome, and the clubhouse café does breakfast, lunch and dinner all year.

Hole highlights

Every hole has two tees and two names. Holes 1 to 9 are played off the white tees and 10 to 18 off the yellow, so the second loop comes at the same greens from new angles.

  1. 2

    An Teallach

    Par 3 · 181 yards

The signature hole, named after the mountain you can see across the loch from its high tee. The Ullapool River breaks into the fairway on the left, and the club says anything from a driver to a wedge may be needed, depending on the wind.

  2. 3

    Loch Broom

    Par 4 · 338 yards

A narrow fairway that slopes left towards the loch and its beach, with banks of gorse on the right. It can be a daunting tee shot in a strong wind.

  3. 4

    Summer Isles

    Par 3 · 152 yards

From a high tee the ground drops twenty feet, with gorse over the first fifty yards. There’s a steep drop to the beach on the left, and the big green is on three levels.

  4. 7

    Crofts

    Par 4 · 378 yards

A dogleg right, with the heather, peat and trees of Alan’s Garden waiting on the right for the second shot. A deep ditch crosses the fairway 100 yards short, and a white triangle in the gorse beyond gives you the line.

  5. 9

    Rowan Over

    Par 4 · 298 yards

Straight back to the clubhouse, with a road crossing the fairway at an angle and a rowan tree on the left. The green is on four levels, so the pin position makes it easy or very hard.
