Covesea Links
Nine holes of links golf in a cove since 2010, par 32 over 2,161 yards.
There's something special about a quick nine holes by the sea, and Covesea Links is made for it.
This little links sits at the end of its own winding road, in a cove on the Moray coast between Lossiemouth and Hopeman. Andy and Angela Burnett built it in 2010, and the holes follow the shape of the cove, among sandstone rocks and gorse, with views along the coast as you go. It's pay and play, so you can simply turn up, and nine holes take a little over an hour. That makes it an easy one to add to a day on the coast.

The course is short enough for a beginner to try links golf, while sea grass, gorse, the odd deep bunker and hard to hit greens test a better player.
The first holes run through low dunes, then the course climbs to a high ridge at the far end and comes back down among two great rock formations.
1The New First
A new par 4 that bends to the right, and the hardest hole on the card. The small green has a narrow front and a wider back, split by a spine running out from the hill. Anything left runs away into a hollow.
5The 5th
As you drive down the hill into Covesea, you may spot a flag perched high on the far left, and this is that hole. It plays steeply uphill to a blind sliver of a green with run-offs on both sides. Take a moment at the top for the view over the beach to Covesea Lighthouse.
6The 6th
The green sits a long way below the tee, so the yardage is only a rough guide. A shot that lands short and skips on is the safe play, because the gorse on the left is very much in play.
7The 7th
Completely blind, played over a huge mound with a marker on top. The green has three distinct tiers, and landing on the wrong one can make a four a good score.
8The 8th
A short par 4 you can drive, with the tee shot played through a gap in some huge rocks. A grassy bunker waits short and right of the green.
