Welcome

Beside the great grassy mound of Duffus Castle, a green shepherd's hut does a roaring trade in good coffee.

The Kula Coffee Hut serves artisan barista coffee, speciality teas and rich hot chocolate, with fancy pieces and cakes to go with them, all from its little hatch under a big parasol.

The owners take care over where everything comes from. The coffee is roasted just along the coast by Speyside Coffee Roasting Co in Garmouth, the ice cream is Stew 'n' Drew's from Hopeman and the bakes are fresh. The hut has won a Taste Our Best award from VisitScotland.

There are tables under a canvas canopy, and it is a good stop after a climb to the top of the castle mound. The hut opens from Thursday to Monday, from ten until four, but hours can change, so check its Facebook or Instagram pages before a special trip.
