On a corner of Commerce Street in the middle of Elgin, red and white striped awnings shade windows lettered booksellers and stationers.

This is Yeadon's, an independent bookshop in the middle of town.

Inside, the shop is bright and airy, with white shelves filled floor to ceiling and plenty of room to browse. The range is wide and varied, across fiction and non-fiction, and there is a cheerful corner of children's books and toys.

Yeadon's opens from Monday to Saturday, from ten until four. It is a few minutes' walk from the Plainstones and the cathedral, so it fits neatly into a day in the town.
