Cult Cafe

A small New Zealand-inspired café on Argyle Street in Ullapool, open from early morning for flat whites, brunch on sourdough and homemade cakes.

Call
Welcome

On Argyle Street, a short walk up from the harbour, a white gable carries a round green sign with a single word: Cult.

The café opened in 2021, and it takes its lead from New Zealand, where one of its owners grew up, which explains the seriousness about coffee.

The room is small and light, with sage-green panelling, wooden tables and bundles of dried flowers hanging from the ceiling. The flat whites and chai lattes are good, and the coffee beans are for sale. Brunch is the thing: thick sourdough piled with avocado and feta, or with poached eggs, in generous portions. The cake counter is full of homemade bakes, carrot cake and blueberry and poppy seed among them, and gluten-free food is made with care.

It opens early, at half past seven, and closes at four, so come for breakfast before the day's drive.
