Connage Highland Dairy
An organic family dairy at Ardersier near Inverness, making vegetarian cheeses from its own cows' milk, with a Cheese Pantry and a self-service store.
Cheese lovers heading along the Moray Firth should make time for Connage, a family dairy farm on the edge of Ardersier, a few minutes from Fort George.
The farm was started by Hamish Clark and is still in the family, and since 2006 the Clarks have made organic, vegetarian cheeses from the milk of their own herd of around 150 cows, which graze clover pastures running down to the shore of the firth. Callum and Jill make the cheese, while Cameron and Eileen look after the farm and the herd. In the Cheese Pantry you can browse their award-winning range, from Dunlop and Clava Brie to Gouda, crowdie and smoked cheeses, alongside British and continental favourites, and the team are always happy to help you choose. The Connage Express, a self-service vending store, has cheese, local produce, biscuits, chutneys and gifts from 8am to 7pm every day. The Cheese Pantry opens Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
