Welcome

Café Canna is an award-winning little restaurant and bar in the West Bothy, a whitewashed cottage on the shore of Canna harbour.

Almost everything on the menu comes from within sight of the door: seafood from the waters round the island, seaweed from its shores, meat from the farm, game from the hill and vegetables from the gardens, so the dishes change with what is in season.

Inside it is a bright, simple room of pine tables and chairs, with a clock on the wall and the sea outside the window. It serves lunches, light meals and evening meals, and it is licensed. It opens from early April to late September, all day, and is often full in summer, so book ahead; arrivals by boat can reach it on VHF channel 8. The former owner, Gareth Cole, wrote a cookbook of the café's favourite dishes, published by Birlinn. It caters for larger gatherings and weddings too.
