Belmont Street

A cobbled street of granite buildings in the centre of Aberdeen, between Union Street and the Art Gallery, lined with independent cafés, bars and restaurants.

Welcome

Just off the bustle of Union Street, Belmont Street climbs on cobbles towards the Art Gallery, lined with granite houses and shopfronts from the late 1700s.

It is an easy place to stop for coffee.

The street is full of independent cafés, with bars and restaurants for the evening. Look for Books n Beans, a café among shelves of books, and round the corner on Little Belmont Street, Cup with its teas and fine china and Poldino's, an Italian restaurant of long standing. A red sandstone church tower rises over the rooftops, and narrow lanes such as Patagonian Court slip away between the buildings.

It is a good street to wander on the way to the Art Gallery at its top, or to come back to after dark. In winter snow, the old cobbles and granite look their best.
