Lighthouses in Scotland You Can Actually Reach

Most Scottish lighthouses sit on rocks and islands you'd need a boat to get to, but plenty stand on headlands you can walk or drive right up to, and the view is worth the trip on its own. These are the ones you can reach.

Most Scottish lighthouses sit on rocks and islands you'd need a boat and a calm day to get anywhere near. But plenty stand on headlands you can walk or drive right up to, and the view from them is worth the trip on its own: open sea, cliffs, seabirds, and on a good day dolphins passing below.

We've picked out our favourite lighthouses you can reach, from the tip of the mainland to the far ends of the islands. Several have a visitor centre and a few let out the keeper's cottage.
