Coffee by Breiwick Bay and the Esplanade.
Shetland's cafés are warm places to sit while the weather passes, and several look straight out at the sea. In Lerwick, there's a bright room behind a wool and ceramics shop off the Esplanade, with cakes baked on the premises. On Sea Road, a café bar sits on a point of rock over Breiwick Bay, where the coffee is ground fresh on site. The arts centre on the waterfront has a wall of glass onto the harbour, and a small wood-lined room on Commercial Street serves coffee by day and drinks by night. Out at Eshaness, soup comes with a view of the Drongs. Ask for a window table.

That is everything for today. Tomorrow's first posts go up in the morning. Or have the best of it in your inbox each morning in the Daily.
