The Wigtown Book Festival runs each autumn across ten days, bringing over two hundred events to Dumfries and Galloway’s National Book Town. The programme includes talks, discussions, children’s sessions, poetry readings, film screenings and food events. Most take place in the town square or nearby buildings, including the County Buildings and a main festival marquee. Events begin mid-morning and continue into the evening. The opening weekend features a procession and fireworks. Between sessions, visitors explore the town’s bookshops, cafés and small galleries. Most venues are within walking distance, with local volunteers on hand to help guide the way.
