Introduction
Those heading towards the abbey along the Tanhouse Brae can stop and take in this little slice of Culross history. The Lockit Well, which is marked by a blue plaque, was once the sole water supply for the town, fed by a stream from the mountains. Its name came from the mechanism that helped the water flow, which could be locked.
