Introduction

Stravaig Saunas runs one-hour sessions from its Royal Deeside base near Crathie and Balmoral, using a hand-crafted Finnish sauna with a panoramic window looking out towards Lochnagar, Abergeldie Castle and the River Dee. Guests can book a private session for up to six people, with longer sessions available by request. On arrival, there is space to change and store belongings in the vestibule before moving between the hot room, cold shower, cold plunge and fresh air outside. The setting makes it an easy addition to a day around Balmoral, Ballater or Braemar, especially after a long walk in the Deeside hills. Sessions usually run from Thursday to Sunday, with specific times available through the website, and alternative times may be possible by arrangement. The sauna can also be hired and brought to where guests are staying or to private events across Scotland.
