Ross Bakery
A family bakery on Chapel Street in Aberdeen since 1954, known for its pies and savouries, which opens again late on Friday and Saturday nights.
Ross Bakery has been baking on Chapel Street since 1954, when Alex and Margaret Ross set it up, and it's still in the family.
Their son David joined in 1965 and his son Simon in 1990, and today the two of them run it together, with pies and savouries at its heart. Step in under the red sign for a hot pie or a sausage roll, a filled roll or a burger, a baked potato or a salad box, and leave room for something from the cake counter. What makes Ross different is the late opening: on Friday and Saturday nights the shop opens again from nine until four in the morning, so you can pick up a hot pie on the way home. In the day it opens from seven, Monday to Saturday, and from eight until two on Sundays. Chapel Street runs north from the west end of Union Street, and the bakery's butteries can be sent by post across the UK.
