Mediterranean
A restaurant on Thistle Street in Aberdeen cooking dishes from right round the Mediterranean, from hummus and spanakopita to paella and baklava.
Picture a long, lazy lunch somewhere on the shores of the Mediterranean, and you're close to the idea behind Mediterranean on Thistle Street.
Its menu travels right round that sea, from Greece and Italy to Spain, Morocco, Turkey and Lebanon, with dishes that change through the year. You might start with a trio of house-made hummus and warm Lebanese flatbread, spinach and ricotta spanakopita, or spiced merguez from North Africa, then move on to Tuscan scallops, mussels cooked the Provençal way or a chicken and chorizo paella, and finish with baklava. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes are clearly marked, and most of the meat is halal. It's a pretty room too, with garlands of flowers hung right along the ceiling. From Tuesday to Thursday there's a two-course lunch for £15.95, and the children's menu runs until 6pm. It's open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and you can book through its website.
