Cafe Moyo
A small café on Thistle Street in Aberdeen's west end, opened in 2025, for coffee, cakes and toasted sourdough sandwiches.
Cafe Moyo is a small, calm café on Thistle Street in Aberdeen's west end, the kind of place you'll want to keep to yourself.
Nadia Clarke opened it in February 2025, after dreaming of a café of her own for more than twenty years, and named it Moyo, which means heart in Ndebele, a language of southern Africa. The room is pale and simple, with white walls, light wood floors, an olive tree in the corner and a striped counter piled with pastries, cinnamon buns and cakes. The coffee is excellent, and comes with a little sweet on the side. At lunchtime there are toasted sourdough sandwiches and toasties, with a fresh side salad. Dogs are welcome, with a bed and a water bowl waiting by the wall. It's open from Monday to Saturday, and only a few minutes' walk from Union Street, so it's an easy escape for a quiet hour in the middle of the day.

Open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am, 9am on Fridays, until 4pm; closed on Sundays.
