Mullach nan Coirean

A Munro of 939 metres at the western end of the Mamores above Glen Nevis, climbed from Achriabhach through the Nevis Forest by its north-east ridge.

Welcome

Mullach nan Coirean, 939 metres, is the westernmost Munro of the Mamores, about five miles in a straight line from Fort William.

Every one of its neighbours lies to the east. Stob Ban is the nearest, under three kilometres away, and Sgurr a' Mhaim and Am Bodach come next along the range. The avalanche forecasters for Lochaber photograph Mullach nan Coirean and Stob Ban side by side, and many walkers climb the two together.

The direct way up starts from Achriabhach in Glen Nevis, climbs through the Nevis Forest to the hill's north-east ridge and follows the ridge to the summit. The Nevis Landscape Partnership names four landowners in Glen Nevis, so watch for signs in the stalking season. The Lochaber avalanche forecast does not name the Mamores, and snow brings the risk here all the same. Choose a day with a good forecast, and carry a map, a compass and warm clothes.
