Stob Ban

A Munro of 999.7 metres in the Mamores above Glen Nevis, climbed from the Lower Falls by Coire a' Mhusgain and its east ridge.

Welcome

Stob Ban stands in the Mamores, the range above Glen Nevis.

At 999.7 metres it is 30 centimetres short of a thousand. It is not to be confused with the Stob Ban of the Grey Corries, a lower hill east of the Nevis Range, and the Met Office titles its summit forecast for this one Stob Ban (Mamores). Sgurr a' Mhaim is about two kilometres to the north-east and Mullach nan Coirean under three to the west. Jahama Highland Estates, which owns Mamore Estate, writes of the steep, rocky Munros on its ground and the ridges that link them.

Walkers climb it from the Lower Falls in Glen Nevis, by the path up Coire a' Mhusgain to the bealach east of the summit and then up its east ridge. The avalanche service's Lochaber forecast does not name the Mamores, but under snow the risk is here all the same. Choose a day with a good forecast, and carry a map, a compass and warm clothes.
