Lagg Distillery
Arran's southern distillery at Kilmory, opened in 2019 to make a bold, peated single malt, with tours, a whisky bar looking to Ailsa Craig and a cafe.
Lagg Distillery stands at Kilmory on Arran's south coast, looking out across the Firth of Clyde to the great rock of Ailsa Craig.
It opened in 2019, the younger sister of Lochranza in the north, and makes a bold, peated single malt inspired by traditional Islay ways of making whisky.
The building itself is striking. Its long, low rooflines were designed to echo the outline of Arran as seen from Ailsa Craig, and they are covered in a blanket of sedum plants that change colour through the year. Inside, tours lead past the copper stills and wooden washbacks, and there are tastings for those who want to explore the whisky further.
The whisky bar has wonderful views of Ailsa Craig, and the Kilmory Cafe serves coffee, cakes and hot food, with a covered outdoor area at the back where dogs are welcome. Lagg opens from Monday to Saturday.

Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5.30pm; closed Sunday.
