La Potinière
A small, owner-run restaurant on Gullane's Main Street with a short set menu that changes with the seasons, listed in the Michelin Guide.
Some of the finest cooking in East Lothian happens in a small dining room on Gullane's Main Street, and La Potinière has long been one of the best places to eat on this stretch of coast.
Its owners, Keith Marley and Mary Runciman, share the cooking, and they keep things simple: a short set menu with a choice of two dishes at each course, everything made in-house and changing with the seasons. You might start with a twice-baked cheese soufflé, move on to local venison cooked three ways, and finish with a chocolate parfait, with some of the produce grown in the restaurant's own garden. Keith has been named Patisserie Chef of the Year, so save room for pudding. It's listed in the Michelin Guide, and the welcome is warm, friendly and relaxed. Lunch is from Thursday to Sunday and dinner from Thursday to Saturday, so call ahead to book, and there's parking beside the restaurant.

Tables are booked by phone, and every booking is confirmed by telephone.
