Welcome

The Galmisdale Bay Café and Bar stands on Galmisdale Point, by the head of both piers, so for most visitors it is the first building on Eigg and the last.

It is part of An Laimhrig, the island's community hub: a timber and glass room with big windows over the rocks and the bay, a stove in the corner and picnic tables outside.

The cooking is homemade, with fresh ingredients bought locally where possible, meat from a Highland butcher and fish from a merchant in Mallaig. By day there are burgers, smoked haddock fishcakes and soups made on the premises, with vegan dishes and gluten-free bread baked in the kitchen, and there are evening meals and pizzas too. It is a bar as well, pouring beer from the island's own brewery. Locals gather to play traditional tunes on most Friday evenings, and anyone with an instrument is welcome to join in. Hours change through the week, so check before you go.
