Clan Cameron Museum
A museum at Achnacarry telling the story of Clan Cameron, from its beginnings to today, and of the Commandos who trained on the estate in the Second World War.
Achnacarry is the ancestral land of Clan Cameron, and here a small museum tells the story of one of the great Highland clans.
It is housed in a long white cottage on the estate.
The displays follow the Camerons from their early beginnings right up to the present day, through the clan's battles and loyalties and the part it played in Scotland's history. There is plenty for anyone with Cameron roots, and a shop of clan gifts.
Achnacarry has a remarkable Second World War story too. During the war the estate became the training ground for the Commandos, and the museum tells the story of their training here.
The museum opens daily from April to mid-October. It makes a good stop on a day in the Great Glen.
