The Kelvin Walkway – A Riverside Dog Walk to Inn Deep
About 2 miles on foot.

The River Kelvin winds through the West End under big old trees, and the path beside it makes a lovely city dog walk.
It runs through Kelvingrove Park past its Victorian fountain and bridges to Kelvinbridge, where Inn Deep pours craft beer and bakes pizza in old railway arches right on the riverbank, and dogs are welcome.

The walk
Dogs can't ride the Subway unless they're small enough to carry in a pet carrier, so come by car and park in the car park on Bunhouse Road, beside the Kelvin Hall, across the river from the park. Start at the Stewart Memorial Fountain, a tower of carved stone and bronze put up in 1872.
Give the dog a run on the grass, then pick up the path beside the Kelvin and follow the river upstream under the trees. The path is shared with cyclists, so keep the dog close where it's busy.
If it rains
The river path is under trees much of the way, so a shower does little harm, and Inn Deep's arches are snug inside with the dog. In heavy rain, cut the park short and go straight along the river to Kelvinbridge.

Lunch
From the fountain it's about 15 minutes' walk upstream beside the Kelvin to Kelvinbridge, where Inn Deep sits in a row of old railway arches below Great Western Road, with picnic tables on the riverside path. It opens at noon every day, and dogs and children are welcome. The kitchen is Sub Rosa's, with pizzas from the oven and plenty of drinks without alcohol beside the beer. From here it's about 18 minutes' walk back to the car.
