Places to Stay Near the Cuillin on Skye

The Cuillin is the great mountain range at the heart of Skye, and these are the places to stay right at its feet. They are close enough for an early start on the hills, or just for looking up at them with a coffee.

Updated 23 September 2026. Across the Isle of Skye.

Jagged, dark and often wrapped in cloud, the Cuillin is the mountain range that brings many walkers and climbers to Skye in the first place. Even if you never set foot on the ridge, there's nothing like watching the light move across those peaks from your own front door.

We've gathered the places to stay closest to the mountains. There are campsites behind a beach at the foot of the ridge and beside the river at Sligachan, and cabins with the Cuillin filling the windows. There's a friendly hostel for walkers too, and a small house at the end of the road where the peaks rise straight out of the sea across the water.
